Here I am, five months after returning from Philmont and I still feel like it was just yesterday I was climbing the Tooth of Time.........New Mexico has a way of getting into your head, once you've seen what it has to offer you can never forget it.
Have you ever been so lonely you could cry? it isn't a lovely, fuzzy feeling, in fact! it isn't even a remotely warm feeling, for those of us who know the feeling well, we try to avoid it. For me, that feeling has been caused by the lack of high mountains and brilliant night skies in my life recently. The song "Tooth of Time Has Been Chewing On Me" has a much deeper significance to me now. Here are some of the lyrics that touch my soul.
"I think, the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me”
The Tooth of Time been chewin’ on me
Fiddles and a campfire are all I need
Cause the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me
Well I think I’ll probably be out here, until I’m dead
And I remember back on what that old timer said
I ain’t that smart, but this I know
The Tooth of Time is a damn good way to go
And you may come and you may leave
But ‘round February she’ll be in your dreams
A great big mountain and the sky so blue
Yeah, the Tooth of Time’ll have its teeth in you
Alright, the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me”
The Tooth of Time been chewin’ on me
I’m smelly and I’m dirty and it’s plain to see
That the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me
One more, the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me”
The Tooth of Time been chewin’ on me
I hike so much, I got stumps for feet
Yeah, the Tooth of Times’ been chewin’ on me
Chewin’ on me
Chewin’ on me"
There is something about carrying everything you need to live on your back that makes me feel.....well, feel. The udder simplicity of it all is refreshing. I don't mean "simplicity" as in it's very simple to do, it's the mindset you are in while backpacking that is simple, you take what you need, and that's enough, you're happy to be without.
Like the song says "she'll be in your dreams" and I can testify to that. It is driving me insane being away from the Mountains of New Mexico, the Tooth of Time has been chewin' on me for sure, and there is only one remedy for my Insanity and it can be summed up in seven words......I WANT TO GO BACK TO PHILMONT!!!!!!!

Grand Bahamas 2012
Yes indeed, it is true that I lived through Spring Break 2012. This is me on the plane from Miami to Grand Bahamas drinking Apple Cranberry juice, it was our trips official drink-we had it on every flight we took.
We went shopping and ate out often at this outdoors shopping center. This is me inside a telephone box (the closest thing to England I've ever been)
One afternoon later on in the week we decided to go on a adventure, we signed up for a 5 hour kayaking and Snorkeling excursion, we Kayaked for 30 minutes out to Peterson Cay National Park. the Island/Park is one square mile, talk about tiny!
Here are our Kayaks, they were a two person.
This was our guide, he was very cheerful the whole time, even through the other Tourists griping and bickering.
Me with my Virgin Pina Colada, my Shrimp Nachos hadn't arrived yet but they were divine!
It was over cast the whole last day we were there. We Decided to go lay on the beach after we signed out of our room at 10:00 a.m. and we didn't have to be at the airport until 3:00 p.m.
We would get our towels laid down and get our ipods to the song we wanted and it would start sprinkling, so we would grab our things and run under the shelter/restaurant, that happened about 3 times until we just gave up all together.
So, all together it was the best spring break of my life! but just wait until next year!

Me with my Gear and Positive Attitude. We were out snorkeling for about an hour and half , we went out to a reef and saw some tropical fish, we also saw a lot of coral and Fire Coral (which was rather hard to avoid.) if you know what Fire Coral is you understand why i didn't want to get very close. ,
This was our Last Full day in the Bahamas, so we went out on the Town.
My Sister Jess and Myself about to leave for the Airport.
In between the raining and sunshine the last day.

A Good Tan and Ocean Waves.
For the first time in my life I actually have plans for Spring Break. This year my older sister and myself are going to The Bahama's for a week, It's going to be paradise! I can not wait. I will put pictures up of our adventures when I get back, but that's still 2 weeks away-plenty of time to go shopping for new clothes! :)

My Adventure Begins!
My goal for this year is to train and prepare for my trip to New Mexico's Boy Scout Ranch; Philmont. I've wanted to go and see it for myself ever since my Oldest brother went with my Dad back in 2001, and each year that my other Three brothers went fueled my desire to go and see every Mountain and Camp that they had pictures of. I poured over every postcard, studying the trees, soaking in the Beautiful Sky. Dreaming one day I would be able to say "Sure, I've Climbed Mount Baldy." It will surely be an adventure I will never forget, and something that my Dad and I can share.
I'm going with my Venture Crew on a 12 day backpacking trip out in the back country in June. There is a lot of things we need to do before we go obviously-Get all our crew gear together, get proper boots, socks and liners, pick our trek, get transportation plans in order, and above all else-get in shape.
Lots to do, and only 79 days to do it!
